Terms of Service
Plain-language terms for the platform that runs alongside your mobile money business.
The service
Finnotes is a management, accounting and reporting layer for mobile money businesses. It records transactions, tracks cash and float separately, supports reconciliation, and reports on revenue. It does not execute transactions with telecom providers and is not a licensed mobile money operator or wallet.
Your account and responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for the accuracy of the information entered under your account. You must be truthful when registering and must not create accounts for purposes that are misleading or unlawful.
Users and roles
Finnotes has exactly two roles, and you cannot configure them. The Agency is the organization that signed up to Finnotes. It oversees the whole business: it can see every branch, open a new branch, and create the login for each branch, but it cannot record, void, reconcile or adjust any financial entry. A Branch operates the branch it belongs to — recording transactions, managing customers and expenses, running its shifts, and managing its own settings and billing — and cannot see any other branch. You are responsible for the actions of the branch logins you create and for removing any login you no longer trust.
Financial records
Expected and actual balances are computed from the entries recorded in your account. It is your responsibility to enter transactions correctly and to verify numbers at reconciliation. Completed transactions are immutable; corrections are made through the reversal flow, which creates a compensating ledger entry so history stays complete.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service, attempt to break or circumvent its security, misrepresent your business or its volume, or use the platform for any unlawful activity. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Plans, billing and cancellation
Finnotes costs $10 per branch, per month after a 14-day free trial. There are no tiers, no per-user fees and no setup costs. The price only grows when your network of branches does. Each branch pays for itself by card (Stripe) or mobile money (M-Pesa / MTN MoMo). If a payment is overdue, the branch has a 7-day grace period before its recording service is cancelled; the data stays available to view and recording resumes as soon as you pay. You may cancel your account at any time from the app or by contacting support.
Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided “as is”. While Finnotes is designed for financial record-keeping, we are not responsible for losses arising from data entry errors, failure to reconcile, or the operational realities of running a mobile money agent business. Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may terminate or restrict access to accounts that violate these terms, that are used fraudulently, or when required by law. On termination your data will be handled according to our Privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Sudan, where the Finnotes service is built for first. Any disputes will be resolved under those laws.
